  • Zaporizhzhia

The emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Zaporizhzhia region has been supporting emergency efforts following a recent attack on the city. Volunteers provided first aid to two people who were injured and offered psychological first aid to those affected and their families. Working alongside first responders from the State Emergency Service (SES) of Ukraine, they also assisted in recovering the body of a person killed in the strike from beneath the rubble.

According to the SES, three people were killed and two others injured as a result of the Russian attack.

  • Sumy

Volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Sumy region were also mobilised following a recent attack on the city. They arrived quickly at the scene and provided first aid to an injured person.

The Sumy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross is currently distributing drinking water, OSB boards, and tarpaulins to residents whose homes were damaged, to support temporary repairs.

In addition, Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers are offering psychological first aid and delivering mine risk briefings to help protect residents from explosive hazards.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, during the night of 22 September, Russia carried out a series of drone strikes on Sumy, causing a fire at an industrial site. Another strike hit the grounds of an educational facility, and the blast wave shattered windows in nearby apartment buildings.
