In Kyiv, informational and practical sessions are held for the staff of the National Police of Ukraine to raise awareness about mine risks and provide training in first aid
During the war in Ukraine, no one is immune to the danger posed by explosive devices — including mines, unexploded ordnance, rocket or drone debris, and cluster munitions. This threat affects civilians as well as police and emergency service personnel.
To address this, mine risk experts from the Darnytskyi district and Kyiv city branches of the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with a first aid instructor from the Dniprovskyi district branch, conducted information sessions for National Police personnel in Kyiv.
Given the specific demands of law enforcement work, the training covered:
- Detailed information about mines and ammunition
- Examples of hazardous locations and warning signs of mines
- Safe behaviour protocols when encountering suspicious objects
- Practical first aid skills, including bleeding control, wound care, and CPR
The sessions focused on key topics such as:
- Mine traps and abandoned explosive devices
- Signs like freshly disturbed soil or stretched wires
- Recognising suspicious objects or markings
- The effects of explosive devices on the human body
- Appropriate actions to take in case of danger
Discussing these issues, sharing experiences, and practising skills are vital steps towards creating a safer environment for those who protect our peace every day.
Knowledge is the key to safety.
