Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers supported evacuees from the Donetsk region in reaching a safe shelter
Yesterday, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Khmelnytskyi region met an evacuation train arriving from Dnipro.
The train was carrying elderly women evacuated from frontline communities in the Donetsk region — an area under constant shelling. There were 21 passengers on board, 11 of whom required special care: some were wheelchair users, others had serious health conditions, and all had experienced hardship and displacement due to the ongoing war.
Volunteers assisted with disembarkation and provided transport to a shelter in the Rivne region. The journey was challenging due to poor road conditions and the complex medical needs of the evacuees. However, thanks to the volunteers’ skills and the use of specially equipped transport, the women arrived safely and in comfort.
A further ten evacuees from the same train were met by volunteers and transferred into the care of the Rokada Charitable Foundation.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all involved, the evacuees reached a safe place where they can now receive the support they need.
