The Ukrainian Red Cross Team was honoured by the Kharkiv City Authorities
A special ceremony was held in Kharkiv to recognise the courage and dedication of the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kharkiv region. Volunteers who demonstrated bravery in responding to attacks on the city were awarded certificates of commendation from the Kharkiv City Council, as well as the Medal for the Defence of Kharkiv, Hero City of Ukraine.
At the same event, the Ukrainian Red Cross presented awards to staff from the Kharkiv City Council’s Emergency Department for their effective cooperation. These honours were presented by Oleksii Borodai, Head of the Civil Protection Unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross, and Ihor Klymenko, Commander of the Emergency Response Team in the Kharkiv region.
Svitlana Horbunova-Ruban, Deputy Mayor of Kharkiv, emphasised that the city’s partnership with the Ukrainian Red Cross is not only about humanitarian aid, but also about mutual trust, shared responsibility, and humanity. Oleksii Borodai underlined that the primary role of the Ukrainian Red Cross is to support emergency response efforts, both man-made and natural, including the ongoing shelling of Kharkiv and its surrounding areas.
It is worth noting that the Kharkiv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross is part of the Unified State System of Civil Protection in the Kharkiv region. Its specialists respond to sites of shelling, provide assistance to victims, and participate in emergency rescue operations.
Thank you for the recognition — and for the continued commitment and collaboration in our daily work.
We stand with those in need.
