Renovated Surgical Department Opens at Mykolaiv City Hospital No. 5

On 10 June, the renovated surgical department of the Municipal Non-Profit Enterprise “City Hospital No. 5” of the Mykolaiv City Council was officially opened.

The modernised department now has a capacity of 40 beds. Each month, it provides treatment for over 150 patients and performs up to 90 surgeries.

The renovation was carried out within the framework of the project “Support for Healthcare Infrastructure and Strengthening the Capacity of the Ukrainian Red Cross”, which is being implemented across four regions of Ukraine — Mykolaiv, Dnipro, Donetsk, and Kyiv — with support from the Netherlands Red Cross and Luxembourg Red Cross, in partnership with the Mykolaiv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the city authorities, the Department of Health, the Ukrainian Red Cross, and a delegation from the Luxembourg Red Cross. The guests highlighted the importance of joint efforts to strengthen critical medical infrastructure in Ukraine.

“We believe that supporting medical facilities is a contribution to the country’s recovery. People must have access to quality care even during wartime. It is a great honour for us to be part of this initiative and work together with our Ukrainian partners,” said Gulnamo Khudobakshova, Head of Mission at the Luxembourg Red Cross in Ukraine.

We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the implementation of this project. Together, we are building a future where every Ukrainian has access to safe, high-quality medical care.
