A Week of Health Care with the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Vyzhnytsia District

A week-long series of educational and practical sessions for schoolchildren took place in the Vyzhnytsia district of the Chernivtsi region, as part of the Ukrainian Red Cross’s Health Promotion and Disease Prevention programme.

Students from one of the local communities took part in an information session on Rational Nutrition, where they learned about the principles of a balanced diet and the potential consequences of poor nutrition. During a practical workshop, each participant worked with a consultant to create their own personalised meal plan.

Other health education sessions were also held during the week:

  • Developing Healthy Habits – focused on daily practices that support both physical and emotional well-being.
  • Hepatitis A, B, C, and D – covered modes of transmission, prevention methods, and the importance of early diagnosis.
  • Physical Activity – included a warm-up and a forest hike, after which the children learned how to measure blood pressure and compared their readings before and after physical exertion.

Participants gained practical knowledge about healthy lifestyles, the prevention of common illnesses, and how to care for their health in everyday life.

These activities in the Chernivtsi region were made possible with the support of the Danish Red Cross.
