Promoting Health from a Young Age: Ukrainian Red Cross Delivers Health Education Sessions at Odesa Lyceum
As part of the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention programme, Ukrainian Red Cross health consultants recently held a series of informative sessions for Year 6 students at a lyceum in Odesa.
During the sessions, students learned about:
- Healthy lifestyles – exploring the key factors that influence our health, from good habits and regular physical activity to the importance of a balanced diet.
- Immunisation – understanding how vaccines help prevent serious diseases, protect public health, and in many cases, save lives.
- Blood donation – learning why every donation matters, particularly during times of war, when the need for blood increases significantly.
This initiative in the Odesa region is supported by the German Red Cross and aims to promote healthy living among the wider population. Young people, especially schoolchildren, play a vital role in modelling self-care and championing important social and humanitarian causes.
