In Mykolaiv, the Ukrainian Red Cross is responding to the aftermath of the attack on the city
Last night, the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Mykolaiv region, in coordination with other rescue services, responded to the aftermath of a night-time attack on the city.
Volunteers evacuated two people from damaged homes: an elderly woman and another woman with limited mobility.
Emergency aid stations were established at the two most heavily affected locations, where those impacted could access essential support — including first aid, psychological first aid, mobile phone charging, hot drinks, and warmth. In total, six people received first aid. Volunteers also distributed more than 200 hygiene and food kits to help meet the basic needs of the victims.
Volunteers remained on site to support first responders throughout the response effort, providing them with essential supplies and help.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, at least ten people were injured during the Russian drone strike on Mykolaiv on the night of 10 April. Both private homes and apartment buildings sustained damage. Fires broke out in several flats, as well as in two cars and a garage. All fires have since been extinguished.
UPD: The Ukrainian Red Cross team in the Mykolaiv region provided humanitarian aid to the local population, including:
- 270 metres of plastic sheeting for temporary home repairs
- 389 packages of tarpaulin to protect damaged houses
- 1,080 bottles of drinking water
A team of psychologists was also on-site, offering support to all those in need.
