Assistance to those whose homes were damaged in Kharkiv following a UAV strike
As a result of the Russian drone attack on Kharkiv on the evening of 20 December, a UAV hit residential buildings in several districts of the city.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, six people, including a child, were injured when a multi-storey residential building was hit. The facade of the building and apartments on the lower floors were damaged, and a fire broke out, which was later extinguished by firefighters.
The Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kharkiv region was present at the scene. Volunteers walked through the surrounding areas and apartments to identify victims and provided both first aid and psychological first aid.
The drone attack also resulted in a strike on a residential building in the city’s private sector. Together with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, volunteers from the Kharkiv regional emergency response team evacuated victims from the burning building and administered first aid. They also went door-to-door in neighbouring damaged buildings, providing first aid to those affected.
