The Ukrainian Red Cross has provided modern equipment for assessing the key physical and chemical indicators of water quality to the Laboratory for Water and Soil Monitoring of the Desna Basin Water Resources Agency
As part of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ukrainian Red Cross and the State Agency of Ukraine for Water Resources, the Laboratory for Water and Soil Monitoring of the Desna Basin Water Resources Agency has received advanced equipment for assessing the key physical and chemical indicators of water quality.
In particular, the DO850 portable oximeter with an optical sensor, the PH800 stationary pH meter, and the ULAB 102 spectrophotometer will enable prompt and accurate determination of dissolved oxygen, hydrogen pH, ammonium ions, phosphate ions, nitrate ions, nitrite ions, total iron, manganese, and other indicators assessed by the photometric method. These indicators are essential for monitoring surface water bodies from which water is extracted to meet drinking and household needs.
The Desna Basin Water Resources Agency staff express their gratitude to the Ukrainian Red Cross for the charitable assistance provided. The new equipment will enable prompt and high-quality assessments of surface water quality in the Desna River basin as part of the state water monitoring programme and enhanced monitoring in cases of accidental pollution.
