Representatives from the Austrian Red Cross and the Finnish Red Cross conducted a monitoring visit to the Chernihiv region
The delegation met with representatives from the Chernihiv City Military Administration, the Chernihiv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, and the Health Department of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.
During these meetings, the region’s healthcare needs were discussed, including the closure of rural clinics, reduced funding for mid-level medical practitioners, and, as a result, the lack of specialists in remote areas who could provide even basic medical services.
A vivid example of this issue is the remote village of Mokri Velychky in the Chernihiv region, which the delegation also visited. Although only 68 people reside in this village, the work of the Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units is particularly vital there, as the nearest pharmacy or medical facility is approximately 20 km away.
