In August, the Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units provided nearly 50,000 consultations
Specialists from these mobile health units provided approximately 50,000 consultations to residents of remote communities across the country, having made 2,511 visits.
Mobile health units are teams of medical professionals who support the primary healthcare system by delivering medical services to the population, particularly in areas affected by hostilities, remote villages, and mountainous regions.
Typically, each unit consists of a doctor and a nurse. Appointments are organised in coordination with local authorities and are held in various locations such as paramedic and obstetric stations, outpatient clinics, and schools. During these appointments, the doctor examines patients, offers recommendations, prescribes treatment or additional diagnostic procedures if necessary, and dispenses medicines.
Currently, 125 mobile health units operated by the Ukrainian Red Cross are active throughout Ukraine.
