The Ukrainian Red Cross Risk Management Department recently held a training session in Odesa titled ‘Safety 360: Security, Risks, and Compliance’
The training was conducted by the Risk Management Department of the Ukrainian Red Cross with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ukraine. The event brought together volunteers and staff from the Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Kherson regional branches of the Ukrainian Red Cross. The goal was to enhance their knowledge and skills in safety and risk management.
Over the course of three days, participants gained intensive knowledge on various topics, ranging from identifying and analysing risks to applying effective threat mitigation strategies. The programme included theoretical sessions and numerous practical exercises, allowing participants to test their knowledge in real-life scenarios. In particular, significant attention was given to personal safety and security during humanitarian activities, both in the field and on-site.
The training was not only an educational platform but also an opportunity for volunteers and staff to share experiences, discuss challenging situations they faced, and identify the best ways to resolve them. An essential part of the event was fostering close cooperation between regional branches, which will enhance the effectiveness of their activities in addressing growing risks.
The training programme is designed to ensure a comprehensive approach to security, covering aspects of risk management and adherence to compliance standards. This represents another step towards ensuring the safety and professionalism of Ukrainian Red Cross staff and volunteers.
