Informing Children About Mine Risks: Over 100 Information Sessions Held in the Sumy Region
The Sumy region remains one of the most heavily mined areas of Ukraine. Therefore, it is crucial to inform people about the dangers of mines and the appropriate actions to take if they encounter them. In July, instructors from the Sumy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross conducted 102 mine risk education sessions for residents of the region, with a significant focus on children. Children often find it more challenging to understand the dangers that explosive devices can cause and to recognize them in time. These information sessions aim to teach children safe behaviour, inform them about the risks, and, most importantly, instruct them on how to protect themselves from potential accidents. In just one week, 470 children in the region learned essential safety rules for handling suspicious objects.
