Mine risk education sessions continue in the Zhytomyr region
During the first month of summer, volunteer instructors of the “Safer Behaviour and Raising Awareness of the Risks of Mines and Explosive Remnants of War” programme conducted several mine risk education sessions for 198 children aged 7 to 15 at a summer camp within one of the educational facilities in Zhytomyr.
During the lectures, the young participants learned more about mines and explosive ordnance, hazardous areas and how to avoid them, and mine warning signs. The students were also given examples of behaviour that could lead to loss of health or life from mine injuries. In addition, the instructors reminded the children of actions to take during other armed threats, such as artillery shelling.
The students were instructed on safe behaviour protocols and what actions to take upon discovering mines or explosive devices.
