Launch of the ″Ten Years Together″ International Emergency Response Team Volunteer Training
Ten years ago, the most enthusiastic individuals – those who couldn’t stay away from the life-changing events in the country – joined the ranks of the Ukrainian Red Cross to provide assistance during the Revolution of Dignity, thus becoming the first emergency response team volunteers.
Today, there are nearly 600 such brave individuals across the country. They are among the first to arrive at the scenes of shelling and other emergencies to save the lives of Ukrainians. They operate in some of the most dangerous areas of our country, evacuating people from under fire and transporting those with limited mobility to safety. They also deliver essential humanitarian aid to those in greatest need.
This year, more than 100 representatives of Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams from across the country gathered for training and to exchange experiences. They were joined by volunteer teams from the Italian and Spanish Red Crosses to practise emergency response together.
“I am very glad to see not only old friends here today but also many new faces. I hope that this meeting will be useful for both newcomers and people with experience,” stated Taras Lohhinov, Head of the Emergency Response Service of the Ukrainian Red Cross
The event was attended by representatives of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
