The Ukrainian Red Cross and the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine are collaborating to increase the availability and scope of social services throughout the country
Representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross have signed a Memorandum with the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, Oksana Zholnovych, outlining cooperation in the field of social services. The Memorandum includes plans for implementing programmes in the following areas:
- Provision of social services and introduction of new social services in territorial communities, as well as assistance to territorial communities in implementing a pilot project for the introduction of comprehensive social services to enhance community resilience.
- Promotion of the development of psychosocial support programmes and social services aimed at reducing the overall level of stress and anxiety among citizens, and provision of comprehensive social services to enhance resilience for individuals and families in territorial communities.
“The Ukrainian Red Cross currently employs about 1,200 social assistants who provide various types of social services in 22 regions of the country. We have extensive experience and expertise in these activities, and we are ready to work towards improving the quality of life for the population,” said Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Under this Memorandum, a project to establish a Resilience Centre in Kherson will also be implemented.
Oksana Zholnovych, the Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine, emphasised the potential for further collaboration with the Ukrainian Red Cross in the development of social services.
