In Tokyo, employees of the Ukrainian Red Cross take part in a two-week H.E.L.P. training
A two-week Health Emergencies in Large Populations training has started in Tokyo, with the participation of Ukrainian Red Cross members.
The H.E.L.P. training was established in 1986 to increase the capacity and capabilities of humanitarian organizations in the healthcare field during their response to emergencies: war, natural disasters, man-made disasters, epidemics, etc.
For two weeks, experts from the World Health Organization, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, and the University of Geneva will train participants in the principles and practices of humanitarian disaster response, including health care. The participants will improve their skills in planning, needs assessment, adaptation to and relief of the consequences of disasters, applying the most modern practices to mitigating the consequences and providing humanitarian assistance to people.
This year’s H.E.L.P. training will be attended by Iryna Martyniuk, a specialist of the Health and Home-based Care Department of the Ukrainian Red Cross. The Ukrainian Red Cross is the largest humanitarian organization in Ukraine that responds to all kinds of emergencies in the country, assists the state in providing humanitarian aid to victims, and supports it in the field of public health.
The training will enable the Ukrainian Red Cross to improve its skills in responding to emergencies in the healthcare sector to help people more effectively.
