Participation in the Seminar on Supporting Staff and Volunteers within the EU4Health Project
In Kyiv, a seminar was held as part of the EU4Health project with the management team on ″Creating a Multi-Level Support System for Employees and Volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society: Priority Action Plan for 2023.″
The purpose of the seminar was to identify the necessary steps for the Ukrainian Red Cross Society to support employees and volunteers in joining the team and assisting others after the crisis. Providing support to the affected population can lead to stress for volunteers and employees, which they may struggle to manage on their own over time.
During discussions, presentations, and practical exercises, the team aimed to achieve the following goals:
- increase the level of support for the staff and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society;
- inspire and motivate the team;
- improve team interaction;
- prevent professional burnout;
- implement preventive measures to maintain the physical health of the team.
The seminar was led by Anna Goloktionova, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Advisor at the IFRC Reference Centre for Psychosocial Support. With the knowledge gained, participants will be better equipped to enhance the level of care for teams across Ukraine.
EU4Health is a programme dedicated to building a more sustainable and accessible health system. Addressing the psychosocial well-being of staff and volunteers is a crucial aspect of overall physical and mental health care. The project is carried out with the support of the Danish Red Cross in Ukraine.
