THE UKRAINIAN RED CROSS SET A RECORD FOR THE NATIONAL REGISTE OF UKRAINIAN RECORDS
Today, the record of the Ukrainian Red Cross was entered into the National Register of Records of Ukraine – the largest simultaneous simulation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation by 189 people.
The Ukrainian Red Cross is the country’s leading leader in training people in first aid skills. For the last 10 years, the Society has been conducting 6-, 12- and 48-hour certified first aid training programs and seminars. The training is adapted for different age groups, starting from 5 years, as well as for different categories of vulnerability (for people with visual, hearing, etc.).
This allows every person, regardless of gender, type of activity and profession, to acquire the skills and knowledge that will be able to help the victim at the scene of an accident and, even in life-critical situations, to save a person’s life.
“With the outbreak of full-scale war, the ability to provide first aid is more critical than ever for every person. Since February 24, 2022, our team of instructors and trainers has already trained more than 60,000 people in first aid and continues to train hundreds of people every day in different parts of the country,” said Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society.
“We organized the largest simulation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation on 189 mannequins in Ukraine. Our volunteers, employees of the Ukrainian Red Cross and medical students of the college rallied together to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation within 3 minutes,” shared Nadiya Yamnenko, head of the first aid department of the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society – “Such an event will draw people’s attention to the need to learn first aid skills, which today, in wartime, save people’s lives.”
In Kamianets-Podilskyi, on September 14, 2022, a record was set for the largest simultaneous simulation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation by 189 people in the Euromaidan Heroes Park. This record was registered in the National Register of Ukrainian
Records, because such an event took place for the first time in Ukraine.
Lana Vetrova, head of the National Register of Ukrainian Records: “This record was an achievement for all of Ukraine. Its importance and relevance can hardly be overestimated.”
The event was timed to World First Aid Day, which is celebrated worldwide every second Saturday in September, in order to remind people how important it is to be able to provide first (pre-medical) aid. The record setting took place in Kamianets-Podilskyi, a city that this year celebrates the 155th anniversary of the founding of the city branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross of Students of the Kamianets-Podilskyi Medical School joined the participation.
The event was supported by the French Red Cross and the Global First Aid Reference Center.
