Sanitary and educational activities

Employees and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society carry out intense sanitary and educational activities aimed at prevention of tuberculosis, HIV and other socially dangerous diseases.

The most large-scale activity in this direction is the project ‘Social Support and Formation of Adherence to TB Treatment’ under the program ‘Reduction of Tuberculosis Incidence in Ukraine through Expanding and Improving Access to Quality Services of Tuberculosis Prevention and Treatment’ funded by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. During the years of the project implementation, from 2011, medical and social support was provided to about 18 thousand patients of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd categories with the risk of treatment discontinuation and more than 1 thousand patients with multi-drug resistant TB. Treatment success rate is 88.8%.

The URCS Organizations conduct traditional large-scale awareness campaigns on the relevant International and World days involving a significant number of young people and workers of health facilities and schools.
