Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units continue reaching the most remote border villages in the Sumy region
Due to the challenging security situation, access to healthcare facilities in many border communities remains limited. That is why Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units regularly travel to some of the most remote villages to provide essential medical care and deliver medicines.
Over the past week, the mobile health units:
- visited 57 villages;
- examined 989 patients;
- carried out 85 home visits for people with limited mobility;
- provided medical consultations for 32 children.
At present, 10 mobile health units are operating across the Sumy region.
What services do our specialists provide?
- Conduct medical examinations.
- Measure blood pressure, blood glucose levels, and blood oxygen saturation.
- Provide primary healthcare on site or refer patients to specialist care when needed.
- Supply free over-the-counter medicines for common health conditions to help stabilise patients’ health.
- Arrange emergency transport to a healthcare facility when a life-threatening condition is identified.
The Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units in the Sumy region operate with support from the Swedish Red Cross and the U.S.
