The Ukrainian Red Cross responded to the aftermath of the overnight attack in Kyiv
Today, Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams from the Ivano-Frankivsk region and the National Committee, working alongside the emergency services, responded to the aftermath of a large-scale Russian attack in Kyiv’s Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts.
In the Podilskyi district, volunteers, together with emergency responders, rescued an injured woman from the rubble, evacuated her and handed her over to an emergency medical team for further treatment in hospital. Volunteers also provided first aid to five injured people and psychological first aid to seven people. A Ukrainian Red Cross assistance point is also operating at the site, where affected people can receive psychological support, charge their mobile devices, and have tea or water.
In the Darnytskyi district, volunteers evacuated four residents with reduced mobility from a damaged residential building, provided first aid to seven injured people, and delivered psychological first aid to a further nine people. Volunteers also rescued a dog from the unsafe building.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as of now, 12 people have been killed as a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv. A further 49 people, including five children, have been injured.
Emergency response and recovery operations are ongoing in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi and Podilskyi districts.
