The Ukrainian Red Cross is assisting people affected by the overnight attack in the Kharkiv region
Ukrainian Red Cross teams are responding at sites affected by the overnight Russian attack in Kharkiv and Chuhuiv.
At all locations, volunteers from the emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Kharkiv region are working alongside emergency services and other responders. They have been conducting checks of surrounding areas and door-to-door visits of damaged residential buildings to identify people in need, while also providing first aid and psychological first aid.
According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, six people were injured in the attack on Kharkiv, four of whom were hospitalised. A further ten people, including three children, experienced acute stress reactions and received on-site assistance. Around ten impact sites and areas where debris fell were recorded in the city. Residential buildings, civilian infrastructure, and vehicles were damaged.
Assistance points set up by the Ukrainian Red Cross are currently operating at the affected sites, where people can receive water, hot drinks, snacks, and psychosocial support. Humanitarian aid distribution is also ongoing, including hygiene kits for adults and children, drinking water, transit kits, children’s sleeping sets, and blankets.
In Chuhuiv, Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers are providing psychosocial support to those affected and assessing needs for further humanitarian assistance.
According to the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, three people were killed in the missile strike on Chuhuiv, including a pregnant woman. Two apartment buildings, a shop, garages, and two vehicles were damaged.
