The Ukrainian Red Cross is responding at the sites of the overnight Russian attack on Kyiv

Emergency response teams from the Kyiv region and the National Committee of the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with other emergency services, are working at the sites of the overnight attack on Kyiv. Volunteers assisted at two locations and provided first aid to 22 people with injuries of varying severity, including 6 who were transferred to emergency medical teams for hospitalisation. Together with first responders, volunteers evacuated the injured and people with limited mobility from damaged buildings. The bodies of two people killed in the attack were also recovered and handed over to specialists.

15 affected people and their relatives received psychological first aid from the Ukrainian Red Cross.

At one of the impact sites, the Ukrainian Red Cross set up an assistance point where people can drink water or tea, charge their phones, and receive psychological support or first aid if needed.

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, 2 people were killed, and 33 others were injured as a result of the massive Russian attack. According to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, around 50 sites were damaged, including apartment buildings, private homes, shopping centres, educational institutions, a market, administrative buildings of the State Emergency Service and the police, as well as the Chornobyl National Museum.

We thank our partners within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the U.S. Government, the European Union, and donors from around the world for their support.

Response efforts are ongoing.
