Ukrainian Red Cross launches Group Cash Transfer programme to support frontline communities
The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to implement initiatives to strengthen the resilience of frontline communities. As part of the “Support for national crisis response, humanitarian operations, and resilience building” project, implemented with U.S. support, the programme was presented to community representatives from the Kharkiv region and partners.
Representatives of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration took part in the event, including Deputy Head Yevhen Ivanov, who highlighted the importance of coordination with international partners in preparing for the heating season, strengthening critical infrastructure, and supporting the population in emergency situations.
The programme provides group cash transfers to frontline communities in the Kharkiv region and to communities in the Mykolaiv and Chernihiv regions. Participants will be able to submit multiple project proposals in the following areas:
- strengthening critical infrastructure;
- improving living conditions for internally displaced people;
- seasonal and emergency preparedness;
- other community development priorities.
The amount of financial support per project will range from UAH 500,000 to UAH 2 million.
“This programme is not only about financial support, but about creating practical solutions for communities that face the challenges of war every day. We aim to ensure that donor resources are used as effectively as possible and respond to the real needs of people on the ground,” said Olena Skrypnikova, Head of the Innovative Financing and Cash Transfer Programming Unit at the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Ukrainian Red Cross regional branch teams will support communities at every stage of participation — from preparing applications to implementing initiatives and reporting.
The meeting also covered technical aspects of proposal development and approaches to interim and final programme reporting.
