The Ukrainian Red Cross Tracing Service joins celebrations of the 108th anniversary of the organisation in Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr
On Saturday, 18 April, the Restoring Family Links teams in the Mykolaiv and Zhytomyr regions held information events in the main square in Mykolaiv and on Mykhailivska pedestrian street in Zhytomyr.
The day provided a valuable opportunity to introduce local residents to the work of the Ukrainian Red Cross Tracing Service and to raise awareness of the importance of personal safety.
Throughout the events, Ukrainian Red Cross representatives spoke about the main areas of their work, explained the procedures to follow in case of a missing family member, answered individual questions from members of the public, and distributed informational materials. Visitors also received branded stress-relief heart-shaped items as a symbol of support and care.
Special attention was given to children. For younger participants, an educational session was held on developing safe behaviour skills and what to do if a child becomes separated from their caregivers. To reinforce learning, children were given themed colouring materials titled “How Not to Get Lost”, which they enjoyed colouring on site at the Red Cross locations.
The events helped raise public awareness of the Tracing Service’s work. Visitors received up-to-date information on safety rules and response procedures in cases of loss of contact with relatives, as well as materials for further reference. Children learned basic safety behaviours for situations in which they might become lost, including what actions to take.
The events took place in an open and friendly atmosphere. The interactive format helped increase engagement and interest among participants. Overall, the initiative contributed to strengthening trust in the Tracing Service, improving communication with the community, and promoting a culture of safety.
