What to do if you get lost: an interactive event for children held in Mykolaiv

Specialists from the Restoring Family Links programme delivered a social engagement activity for children from families of missing persons and prisoners of war on the topic “How not to get lost”. The event took place at the Child-Friendly Space of the Mykolaiv regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

Through a quest-style activity, “Finding the Way Home”, children completed tasks designed to help them learn how to behave in unfamiliar environments, understand which decisions are safe if they lose contact with their parents, and how to seek the assistance they need.

Following the quest, participants moved on to a creative session, where they coloured themed illustrations and discussed what to do if they get lost and how to stay safe in such situations.

Thanks to the interactive format, children not only gained essential safety knowledge but also reinforced it through practical application in a friendly and supportive environment. Activities like these help children feel more confident in a variety of situations and foster important skills for safe behaviour.
