Ukrainian Red Cross supports response efforts in Kharkiv and Uman

The emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Kharkiv region worked at the site of the strike. Together with other emergency services, volunteers carried out door-to-door visits in apartment buildings to identify affected people and provided first aid and psychological support.
A Ukrainian Red Cross assistance point was operating at the site, where people could receive drinking water, tea or coffee, as well as psychological support. Volunteers also assessed needs among affected residents to inform the distribution of humanitarian assistance.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, yesterday Russian forces carried out strikes using guided aerial bombs on Kharkiv’s Shevchenkivskyi district and surrounding suburbs. As a result, two people were killed and six were injured. Apartment blocks, private homes and other buildings near the impact site were damaged.
Uman:
From the first minutes following the attack, the Ukrainian Red Cross team has been working at the site together with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Cherkasy region, the National Police of Ukraine, and the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration. Volunteers from the Cherkasy regional, Uman city-district, and Zvenyhorodka district branches of the Ukrainian Red Cross have been involved in the response.
The emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross in the Cherkasy region is assessing damaged homes and collecting information on the needs of each affected family to provide building materials for urgent repairs. Volunteers distributed plastic sheeting, tarpaulins, OSB boards, and timber and wooden boards to residents of damaged houses.
Two mobile warming centres have been set up at the site, where people can warm up, receive hot drinks, and take a short rest. Psychologists are also providing support to help affected people and their relatives cope with the psychological impact of the attack.
According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, two children and four adults were injured as a result of the Russian missile strike on the city of Uman. Dozens of houses were damaged, with four completely destroyed.
