Over 600 households in the Kherson region have received Emergency Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance from the Ukrainian Red Cross

In the most difficult moments during the war — when people lose their homes, suffer injuries, or are forced to evacuate — financial support becomes essential. That is why emergency cash assistance programmes play a vital role in providing timely and targeted support to those affected.

From April to September 2025, more than 600 households — nearly 900 people — affected by the war in the Kherson region received this support. Each household was provided with a one-time payment of 10,800 UAH, enabling them to purchase essential items such as food, medicine, and hygiene products, cover transport costs, and meet other basic needs. All transfers were made via financial service providers, allowing recipients to access the funds quickly and securely.

Emergency Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance is provided in response to emergencies — within 30 days of a crisis — and is targeted at those most severely affected: people who have been injured, families who have suffered personal losses (through injury or death of loved ones), households whose homes have become uninhabitable, and those who were forcibly evacuated or fled their homes due to immediate danger.

Special attention was given to residents of the Korabel district in Kherson city, where the situation remains critical. Assistance was provided to families who were forced to leave their homes in order to save their lives.

These programmes help people affected by crises meet their basic needs and ease some of the daily hardships they face.

The Emergency Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance programme is being implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross, with support from the Swiss Red Cross.

*Please note: The Ukrainian Red Cross is warning of an increase in fraudulent schemes involving false promises of cash assistance.
