The Future of Cash Assistance and Innovative Financing Discussed at RED HUB
On 29 July 2025, the Ukrainian Red Cross’s innovation space, RED HUB, served as a gathering place for experts and partners focused on advancing cash assistance programmes and introducing innovations in humanitarian financing.
The event brought together representatives from national partner societies, specialists in cash assistance and innovation, and heads of relevant departments within the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Participants had the opportunity to present and discuss:
- A new Cash Transfer Programming (CTP) strategy
- Practical approaches to implementing cash assistance and measuring its outcomes
- Experiences with various financial support models, particularly in preparation for the winter period
Particular attention was given to the Ukrainian Red Cross’s strategic priorities in cash assistance, monitoring and evaluation tools (including the PDM framework), sectoral and emergency support (HBC, Rehab, MV, Veterans, Shelter, RFL), as well as examples of collaboration with programmes that support entrepreneurship.
A separate focus was placed on innovative financial approaches that are gradually being incorporated into humanitarian activities, creating new opportunities to assist vulnerable populations.
The flexible format of the event, combined with the open atmosphere of the RED HUB, encouraged lively discussion and the sharing of experiences.
This event marked another step towards enhancing the effectiveness of aid programmes and expanding the use of financial tools in the humanitarian sector.
