In Mykolaiv, the Ukrainian Red Cross Tracing Service held a meeting with children from families whose relatives had gone missing due to the war in Ukraine

On St Nicholas Day, the Ukrainian Red Cross organised an event for 20 children from families of missing persons. The event aimed to support the participants, provide them with a sense of security, and bring them some festive cheer.

The youngest participants had the opportunity to take part in active games. A highlight of the event was a creative activity focused on making Christmas tree decorations. Each child received the necessary materials and instructions to create their own ornament. The process of modelling and painting the decorations was not only a creative activity but also an opportunity for the children to express themselves. Each child left with positive emotions, having made a Christmas decoration with their own hands, which they could hang on the tree or give to their loved ones. Meanwhile, parents had the opportunity to speak with a psychologist, who was invited with the support of the Save the Children NGO. The organisation’s activities are focused on supporting children affected by the war in Ukraine.

For the Ukrainian Red Cross Tracing Service, supporting families who have lost loved ones due to the war in Ukraine is one of our key priorities. Through events like this, we can bring some holiday cheer to children.
