Hugo Slim, Advisor to the British Red Cross and Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, visited the Cherkasy region
As part of the visit, representatives of the British Red Cross toured the office of the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross. There, the guests were introduced to the full range of the organisation’s activities, which are primarily focused on improving the living conditions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and addressing the aftermath of air raid attacks. Accompanied by Yulia Kholodna, Head of the Cherkasy regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross, the visitors learned about the work of the regional emergency response team and the mobile health units of the Ukrainian Red Cross in Smila. They also had the opportunity to visit the Clothing Bank at the Cherkasy city branch and the volunteer hub. Hugo Slim spoke personally not only with the staff and volunteers, but also with the recipients of the services.
Additionally, the visitors had the chance to see firsthand the residential buildings in Zolotonosha that had been damaged by attacks, as well as the reconstruction work being carried out by the Ukrainian Red Cross.
