We support single pensioners

Social assistants of the Ukrainian Red Cross take care of lonely people who need outside help to fulfill essential household tasks in Bukovyna.

The assistants buy groceries and medicine, prepare food, clean the house, and help with hygiene procedures. During the winter, they also help to start the wood stove, chop firewood, and bring water, because many of these single people live in private houses with no centralized heating or water supply. The elderly always look forward to these visits because the Ukrainian Red Cross’ social assistants are not just their routine aid, but also the friends they can talk to.
