Students at a gymnasium in the Kyiv region will soon be able to resume their studies, as the educational facility has received a modular boiler house

Today, in preparation for the heating season, the Ukrainian Red Cross, in partnership with The Coca-Cola Company System, delivered a 200 kW modular boiler house to the Veselynivka Gymnasium of the Baryshivka Village Council, located in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region. The gymnasium also houses a kindergarten and a primary school.

“We are constantly monitoring the needs of the social sector (schools, kindergartens, healthcare facilities) to provide them with boilers, alternative power sources, and other essential equipment. As a result of this work, we identify the communities and villages that need support the most. Veselynivka is one of those in need of assistance, and this support has already been provided,” said Oleksandr Poprotskyy, Director of the Urban Utilities and Energy Efficiency Department of the Kyiv Regional State Administration.

An important feature of this equipment is its mobility, which allows the boiler houses to be quickly deployed and installed in new locations with high demand for heat.

“Thirty educational facilities will receive modular boiler houses this year, which will help them maintain the educational process. It is important to note that each boiler can be installed according to specific needs. There is no need for construction or modification; this is a ready-made, standardised product that has been in operation in Ukraine for many years and provides reliable heat,” said Mykyta Ilin, Head of the Shelter and Settlements Unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

A total of 60 mobile boiler houses will be delivered to Ukrainian communities during the 2024 heating season, in addition to the 45 boilers provided last year. Together, these 105 boilers, donated over two years, have a combined capacity of around 600 MW and will heat up to 600,000 square metres of social facilities and residential buildings in Ukraine. This year, The Coca-Cola Company System has allocated approximately EUR 5 million for the implementation of the project.

“I am pleased that both the community and representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross, our partners for over 12 years, have come together today. This project would not have been possible without them. I would also like to emphasise that the boilers are made in Ukraine, supporting our domestic manufacturers,” said Andriy Bublyk, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Director at Coca-Cola HBC Ukraine, during the handover of the boilers.

Lesia Myrhorodska, acting principal of Veselynivka Gymnasium, expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project: “Thank you for not leaving us alone during these difficult times. We hope the boiler house will start working soon, and that our children will soon return to warm classrooms.”
