In Poltava, a training session on psychological first aid for complex reactions and situations was conducted for the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team

The Kharkiv emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross is engaged in emergency response, evacuation of individuals, rubble removal, and other activities due to the ongoing hostilities in the region. At the scene of an incident, volunteers may encounter individuals who exhibit complex psychological reactions to events and require specialised support. Consequently, training was provided to develop skills in communicating with those experiencing complex psychological reactions and stress.

It was essential for the participants to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to support individuals in emotional crises, provide prompt and high-quality assistance in particularly challenging conditions, and, if required, refer individuals to specialists.

It is worth noting that the methodology for training in psychological first aid for complex reactions and situations was developed by the Danish Red Cross and is being piloted globally in collaboration with the Ukrainian Red Cross.
