In Bukovyna, social helpers assist lonely individuals
Social helper Khrystyna Petrenko regularly visits Aurika Kostiantynivna, a 67-year-old woman who has no children and lost her husband a long time ago. Now living alone, she requires assistance.
“I bring food, help with cooking and cleaning, and pay for utilities, among other tasks. My beneficiary is sincerely grateful for the support provided by the Ukrainian Red Cross,” said Khrystyna.
Social helpers from the Ukrainian Red Cross offer home care to lonely or conditionally lonely older individuals who need external assistance. They help with household chores, assist in resolving social issues, provide hygiene services, and offer emotional support through companionship.
Currently, about 1,000 social helpers across Ukraine provide assistance and support to more than 5,500 beneficiaries.
