The Ukrainian Red Cross and the Ministry of Veterans Affairs launch a campaign to inform Defenders returning to civilian life

As veterans and women veterans transition to civilian life, they face new challenges, some of which they may need to overcome independently. 

To ensure they do not face these challenges alone, the Unified Veterans Hotline is available at 0 800 505 217. 

The Ukrainian Red Cross, in collaboration with the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, has created a social video to inform veterans returning from war, their families, and the families of the deceased about the support provided by the state.  

The central character in the video is Volodymyr Tovkys, a veteran and medallist at the Invictus Games 2023. Volodymyr served on the front lines as a member of the National Guard of Ukraine. At the end of September 2019, he sustained serious head injuries while performing combat missions and was in a coma for 11 days. 

The Unified Veterans Hotline offers consultations on the following: 

• psychosocial support; 
• social benefits; 
• housing issues; 
• financial assistance and compensation; 
• medical issues; 
• legal support; 
• other concerns for veterans, their families, and the families of the deceased. 

The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine in collaboration with the Ukrainian Red Cross. 

The Unified Veterans Hotline is a specialised telephone service providing consultations and support to the veteran community, their families, and the families of deceased defenders. This service is free of charge and operates daily from 08:00 to 20:00.
