Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers support runners at the 2026 Unbroken Marathon in Khmelnytskyi

This weekend, the 2026 Unbroken Marathon took place in Khmelnytskyi. Over the two days, volunteers from the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Khmelnytskyi region were on duty at various locations along the event route.

The team monitored participants’ condition and provided assistance as needed. During the races, volunteers helped runners experiencing muscle cramps, injuries and other health issues. They also provided water, cold packs and thermal blankets. In total, 25 people received assistance.

Mobile health units and volunteers from the Khmelnytskyi regional branch of the Ukrainian Red Cross also supported the event. Close coordination between the teams enabled them to respond promptly to participants’ needs throughout the route.

This year, the marathon was held in Khmelnytskyi for the first time in its 17-year history. More than 11,000 runners from Ukraine and abroad took part in the event, with around 4,300 participating in races in Khmelnytskyi itself. Participants competed in the 5 km, 10 km, half-marathon and marathon (42.195 km) races, as well as a team relay. Children’s races and a 1.6 km run were also held.

Providing support at large sporting events is one of the activities of Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response teams. Volunteers are ready to provide first aid and assist people wherever needed.
