The Ukrainian Red Cross trains community representatives as part of the SYLA project
In Cherkasy, the Ukrainian Red Cross delivered training on chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear safety and civil protection for representatives of local communities from the Kharkiv, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv regions as part of the SYLA project.
Participants received theoretical and practical training to strengthen their communities’ preparedness for emergencies. They learned the basic principles of responding to chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards and practised using personal protective equipment, including CBRN protective masks.
Such training helps community representatives develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to improve emergency preparedness and response and strengthen civil protection at the local level.
The training was delivered as part of the SYLA project, implemented by the Ukrainian Red Cross in partnership with the Danish Red Cross, the German Red Cross, ACTED and IMPACT, with financial support from the European Union. The project aims to strengthen community capacity for emergency preparedness and early response.
