Nearly 5,000 residents of Sumy region received assistance from Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units in September
Ten Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units in the Sumy region travel to remote communities to support people with limited access to healthcare.
The teams provide primary healthcare in the communities they visit. They carry out general health checks, measure blood pressure, blood glucose levels and oxygen saturation, provide free over-the-counter medicines when needed, and refer patients to specialists or help arrange hospital admission in emergencies.
A key priority is supporting residents of remote and border communities in the Sumy region, where access to healthcare is limited by the challenging security situation.
To ensure that no one is left without the medical care they need, the teams also make home visits to patients with limited mobility. In September, they carried out 459 such visits.
These visits provide more than medical assistance: they are also an expression of care, compassion and support for those who need it most.
The Ukrainian Red Cross mobile health units in the Sumy region operate with support from the Swedish Red Cross and the U.S. Department of State.
