No One Is Left to Face Hardship Alone: Cash Assistance from the Ukrainian Red Cross

77-year-old Lidiia from the Mykolaiv region lives with her daughter, who has a Group I disability due to multiple sclerosis. Lidiia provides daily care for her daughter and supports her throughout her treatment.

“She can’t live without her medication. We travel to Mykolaiv for treatment, and it is very expensive,” says Lidiia.

Through the Ukrainian Red Cross Unified Cash Transfers programme, implemented with U.S. support, the most vulnerable families living in frontline communities in the Mykolaiv region receive financial assistance. The funds help families cover their most essential expenses, including housing and utility costs, as well as medicines and food that are particularly important for people living in frontline communities.

In the Mykolaiv region, 2,436 people from 1,389 households have already received assistance.

The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to support people affected by the war who are facing difficult circumstances.
