Ukrainian Red Cross representatives meet U.S. Department of State delegation at the site of the attack in Kyiv
Representatives of the Ukrainian Red Cross, led by Deputy Director General Illya Kletskovskyy, together with the Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Andrii Danyk, met with a U.S. Department of State delegation that visited one of the Kyiv districts heavily damaged in recent strikes.
The U.S. delegation included Spencer Chretien, Deputy Assistant Secretary; Jeffrey Giauque, Senior Assistance Coordinator at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine; Emily Krunic, Deputy Assistance Coordinator; as well as representatives of the Embassy’s assistance programmes team.
During the visit, Ukrainian Red Cross representatives briefed the delegation on humanitarian response mechanisms to the consequences of attacks, the work of emergency response teams, coordination with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU), and cooperation with international partners, as well as the assistance provided to affected people from the first hours following an emergency.
With U.S. support, the Ukrainian Red Cross is strengthening its capacity to respond to emergencies in Kyiv and frontline regions. The equipment and technical assistance provided enable teams to respond more rapidly to emergencies, support SESU units during responses to the consequences of Russian attacks, and provide timely assistance to people affected by the war.
The partnership between the Ukrainian Red Cross, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and the U.S. Department of State contributes to strengthening emergency response capacity, developing community preparedness, and supporting people who are affected by the consequences of the war on a daily basis.
