A safe summer starts with knowledge: the Ukrainian Red Cross launches a series of mine risk awareness sessions in summer camps across Ukraine

The main goal is to help children stay safe during the summer holidays and teach them how to respond if they encounter suspicious or potentially dangerous objects.

The first sessions have already taken place in the city of Samar, Dnipro region, at a local gymnasium, where Ukrainian Red Cross specialists, together with Educational Security Officers, held an interactive session for children attending a summer camp.

During the session, participants:

  • learned how to recognise potentially dangerous objects;
  • explored the basic rules of safer behaviour;
  • took part in practical exercises and discussed real-life scenarios;
  • reinforced the key safety message: “Do not approach, do not touch, call 101 or 102.”

Summer holidays are a time for outdoor activities, walks, and new adventures. That is why it is so important for children to know how to act safely in potentially dangerous situations and avoid taking risks when encountering unfamiliar objects.

Throughout the summer, similar awareness sessions will be held in summer camps and community spaces for children across all regions of Ukraine. We want every child to have access to essential safety information.

Because nothing is more important than keeping our children safe.
