Today, 5 June, at around midday, three vehicles belonging to the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team in the Kherson region were damaged as a result of another Russian attack
These are the vehicles volunteers use to evacuate civilians, transport injured people and people with limited mobility, and respond to the aftermath of attacks to provide assistance.
Volunteers’ personal vehicles were also damaged.
As a result of the attack, one volunteer sustained a concussion and was taken to hospital for further medical care.
We strongly condemn attacks on civilian infrastructure and vehicles clearly marked with the Red Cross emblem. Such actions constitute a direct violation of international humanitarian law. Medical transport, humanitarian assistance, and people saving lives must never be targeted.
Despite constant danger and daily shelling, Ukrainian Red Cross volunteers continue carrying out their mission — helping civilians, saving lives, and supporting those in need.
We wish our colleague a speedy recovery and thank all volunteers who continue helping people despite constant danger.
