International partners of the Ukrainian Red Cross visited the site of a missile strike in Kyiv
Maksym Dotsenko, Director General of the Ukrainian Red Cross, together with representatives of the UN Refugee Agency and a Swedish delegation, including representatives of the Embassy of Sweden in Ukraine and the Swedish Red Cross, visited the site of a missile strike in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. The Swedish delegation was led by Karin Juhlin, State Secretary to the Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade.
During the visit, the delegation learned more about the emergency response efforts, which the Ukrainian Red Cross emergency response team joined in the first hours after the attack on 14 May 2026. The participants witnessed firsthand the scale of destruction in the district, learned more about the work of emergency response teams during rescue operations, and discussed further steps to strengthen support for affected communities. The delegation also spoke with a resident of the damaged building who had received assistance from the Ukrainian Red Cross.
Representatives of the UN Refugee Agency also presented their approaches to emergency response and supporting people in cooperation with local partners.
Such visits are not only about coordination, but also about understanding the realities people in Ukraine face every day and showing continued support for those helping others.
