The Ukrainian Red Cross took part in the forum “Ageing with dignity: creating a space of care”
A forum dedicated to the development of long-term care in Ukraine was held in Lviv. The event brought together representatives of national authorities, local self-government bodies, international partners, the private sector, and social service providers to discuss what a modern system of support for older people and persons with disabilities should look like in the context of war and the country’s recovery.
The discussion focused on the development of community-based care models, the integration of health and social support, and ensuring dignity, autonomy, and quality of life for every person.
The Director of Programmes at the Ukrainian Red Cross, Anna Saienko, took part in the forum. In her speech, she presented the organisation’s experience in developing home-based care services, supporting older people and persons with disabilities, and highlighted the role of community-based services in strengthening the resilience of families and communities during wartime.
Particular attention was given to the fact that long-term care is not only a social service today, but also an essential component of support for people during periods of crisis, isolation, and loss of access to usual support systems.
The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to develop community-based support services to ensure that assistance remains accessible, continuous, and people-centred.тричною.
