The search and rescue operation in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district lasted more than 20 hours
The emergency response team of the Ukrainian Red Cross was on site from the first hours after the attack. Volunteers provided first aid to around 20 people and also delivered psychological first aid to those affected and their families.
More than 20 volunteers and staff members were involved in the response. They assisted with clearing rubble, searching for injured people, and recovering the bodies of those killed. They also supported affected residents and worked at a Ukrainian Red Cross assistance point, which was visited by more than 200 people.
According to Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Ihor Klymenko, 24 people were killed in the attack, including three children, and a further 48 people were injured.
During the emergency response and rescue operations, more than 3,000 cubic metres of debris were cleared.
We express our gratitude to partners within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the U.S. Government, the European Union, and donors from around the world for their support.
