The Ukrainian Red Cross continues to promote blood donation in Ukraine

Staff and volunteers of the Ukrainian Red Cross continue to actively support blood donation across Ukraine. For the second year running, this initiative in Kyiv has been carried out with the support of the Blood Centre of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, under the “Health Promotion and Disease Prevention” programme. Colleagues have once again stepped forward as donors, providing life-saving assistance to those who are wounded or critically ill. This initiative is part of a long-term collaboration with partners throughout the country.

The demand for blood remains high due to the ongoing war, complex surgeries, and treatment of serious illnesses. Every new donor contributes to a movement that saves lives.

The Ukrainian Red Cross works daily to make blood donation more accessible by:

  • organising campaigns at national and local levels;
  • partnering with blood centres;
  • supplying hospitals with blood components and promoting donation as a simple, effective way to help.

Every month, dozens of volunteers and staff become donors, showing that helping is both easy and critically important. Just 30 minutes can save up to three lives.
