89 members of the volunteer fire brigades in the Volyn region have joined the Ukrainian Red Cross

The Ukrainian Red Cross has welcomed 89 new volunteers, all members of the volunteer fire brigades in the Volyn region. Recently, 15 of them received their volunteer certificates and officially became part of the Red Cross movement.
This is the first time such a collaboration has taken place: members of the volunteer fire brigades have joined the Ukrainian Red Cross volunteer network. This step strengthens the Ukrainian Red Cross’s presence and role in local communities, reinforces partnerships on the ground, and helps create a unified emergency response system.

The initiative has attracted people from diverse professions and age groups, including educators, healthcare workers, engineers, community representatives, and faith leaders. For the first time, volunteer fire brigades are being integrated into the Ukrainian Red Cross volunteer network, improving local coordination and enhancing emergency response capacity.

As part of this collaboration, and with support from the German Red Cross, the Ukrainian Red Cross has also provided the brigades with 25 sets of mobile signal boosters and portable charging stations. This equipment will increase the teams’ operational autonomy and ensure reliable communication during emergency response operations in coordination with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
